The deadline for negotiations between British Airways and the Unite union to avert a cabin crew strike has been extended until midday tomorrow (Wednesday).
The Trades Union Congress, which is chairing the negotiations, had set a deadline of close of play today in a bid to break the deadlock in the long-running row with cabin crew over jobs, pay and working conditions.
However, with a possible agreement poised on a knife edge, the decision has been made to extend the negotiations.
It remains uncertain as to whether industrial action will be averted. However, the extension has renewed hopes that a deal may still be reached.
The union has until March 15 to announce any industrial action and must give seven days’ warning of any strikes.
